KLUB7 is a collective of fine artists, based in Berlin and Halle. They have developed their early artistic footprints in the form of large-scale murals and site-specific performances in the public space, during their studies at different art universities in Berlin and Halle and gained a lot of experience by doing a big variety of art projects as a collective. Klub7 work graphically, pictorial, abstract and figurative simultaneously at the interface of fine and applied arts. They have shown their work at international exhibitions and are engaged in interdisciplinary projects. By sythesizing their individual styles they have developed their own group style that is both playful and handmade.

Chalk is one of the most fading materials and easily accessible to the viewer because he or she draw picture on the street in his or her childhood. This kids equipment combines abstract forms and surfaces which is a machining field for us because our works exist just a brief moment.

Exhibition-Tour: KLUB7. BEHIND THE BLOCK

A new way of communication in the streets are handmade shop windows. Nowadays exists a lot of plotter film designed store fronts. But we want to counteract this status by making them special with our individual design.

Wood is a special material for one's work. Exclusively old, used, run-down and weathered wood is important for us because our works gain a certain roughness.

Murals are one of our fortes because we are already experienced of using walls as our base when we did a lot of graffiti artwork. It is exciting for us to work with the frontage of buildings with all peculiarities and specialities in all dimensions. To realize large areas is as important as designing little details.

KLUB7's free or commissioned artworks mostly emerge through a conceptual phase - studying materials, spaces, architectural conditions, deciding for a visual vocabulary interacting with the diverse environments -, followed by the artistic performance. Using chalk, pens, markers, brushes or cans on all kinds of surfaces aims to create the unique KLUB7-style hallmarked by colourful geometrical or organic forms, letterings, symbols and structures - either handcrafted or printed, one-off or reproducible. Due to their spontaneous approach to art, chalk is one of KLUB7's favourite utensils for quick and easy street-drawings exhibited both in the public sphere as well as in galleries.
